First Time Out

On Wednesday the baby birds left the nest for the first time. I observed the yellow bird on the bottom of the cage first. Then the bigger brown bird ventured forth. They don't realy fly but they flutter to ease the descent. Then they hop and flutter back up to the nest.
On Thursday I first observed all of the birds out of the nest, and the two bigger birds moved with a little more then clumsy ease.
Friday morning as I cleaned the cage and put in fresh vegetables and soaked seeds the little birds decided to fly the coop. The little brown bird flew first and landed on my bed six feet away. The bigger brown bird landed on my speaker and the yellow flew over to the hall and then back to the cage. The bird on the speaker with some hesitation hopped on my hand for a short ride before flying off to a plant.
All three ended up on the floor next to the window. There I sat with them with a little pile of seeds and leaves on my hands. Those little birds hopped back and forth accross my hands. The yellow bird even pecked at the food. Eventualy I gently encouraged all three to hop on my hand one at a time and carried them back up to the cage on my open palm.
