Feeding the ladybird

The male has been very good and feeds the ladybird regularly while she sits on the nest. Some male canaries leave the ladybird to do all the work feeding the young. These broods tend not to have a good survival rate . But this male seems to be a hard worker. This is a good sign for their little birds in potentia.

If I didn't know he was feeding her dinner, I would think he was sneaking a little kiss! How sweet!

The still picture doesn't quite capture the heave and feed. This picture makes it look a little nicer.

What is the "heave"?

The "heave"... well...that is when the bird having eaten and having partialy digested said food then regurgitates.
