Day Two Since Hatch Date

Three baby birds in the nest. Bird number three must have hatched this morning. (Bird number one hatched yesterday morning and bird number two hatched yesterday afternoon.) I have removed the fourth egg because it was punctured and I didn't want a bacteria farm next to the new babies. All three are wobbly, raising their heads on their thin necks with open mouths. Rarely do I get to see the baby birds because their watchful mother sits on the nest most of the day. Their lives are so delicate at this stage. I hope for all their survival but I try to keep in mind the likelyhood of one or all of them not living till tomorrow.
Canaries like to use light colored nesting material and anyone can see why. The little fluf their naked bodies have is white and blends in well with the light nest fibers.

It's like I'm watching a part of some special on the Discovery Channel. Nature is neat!

Somehow your postings about parachicks being born are more profound than all our nonstop philosophizing.
