God is Good! and He is taking care of us, and he calls us to action when confronted with injustice and scandal. Well... here is one scandal crying out for a response.
There is no room for compromise. Life is sacred and the Catholic Church defends life from conception to a natural death. When Catholic institutions fail to clearly stand by such a fundamental principle they cause scandal, and lead others to false notions about what is true and good. We are not talking about a guest lecturer who will present the dissenting view for debate, we are talking about a commencement speaker who is sounds the battle cry and sends forth the troops. We are talking about a moral battlefield and this commencement speaker's stance hardly represents the moral views of the Catholic Church.
Pray for our bishops, educators and university presidents that they might have the strength to stand for what is true and good even when it is unpopular. Let us pray also for our president, that his heart and mind might be enlightened by the light of truth and sacrificial love. Lord, give them wisdom!
