My only regret is that I am not on location as I read but I suppose that is part of what a novel is for, to take us where and when we have not been.

Desert Novel
I have recently picked up a book which has been on my reading list for at least seven years. "Death Comes for the Archbishop" by Willa Cather. I have enjoyed reading other books by Cather including O’ Pioneers, and My Antonia. Her style is recognizable for its story telling quality. I find myself falling in love with the desert wasteland she describes so beautifully. Death Comes for the Archbishop is a good book to read while preparing for or participating in this holy season of Lent.

It is indeed a tremendous book. (Thank you for your letter!) Rather than write more here, I'll respond in like kind.
