The Little Things

I lay in bed yesterday and was struck by the thought that my bedroom is perhaps larger than the houses of many people in the world.  All at once I felt blessed and completely unworthy to have so much.  I felt very small in the rented room of this small cottage in my warm comfortable bed with my content belly. So many gifts, not enough gratitude.

These are good things to think about as we hear of "economic downturn" and "foreclosure". Americans as a whole needs to remember the difference between "needs" and "wants" lest we seem as foolish as Sir Walter Elliot and his daughter Elizabeth in Jane Austin's "Persuasion".

I am also thankful for chopsticks.  Chopsticks make food taste better.
